United Lordships of Akreon Xengar10

Empire Name: United Lordships of Akreon
Empire Adjective: Akreonic
Species Name: Xengar
Species Adjective: Xengari
Government: Military Dictatorship
Current Overlord/Ruler: Tenshaa (Overlady Vetnay)
Ethos: Fanatic Militarist, Xenophobe
FTL: Hyperdrive
Weapons: Ballistics
Homeworld: Akreon Prime (Ocean)
System: Akreon
Language: Low Kolesh, and High Kolesh
Note: Peaceful Expansionist Civilization Type

Short Description: Xenophobic and arrogant, the United Lordships will primarily focus onto military might, though they may not fold to such.

Description: The United Lordships of Akreon is a unified body of "lords" ruled by the Overlord, who is selected upon the last Overlord's death by various feats of personal strength, popularity and martial prowess and might. Their aims and beliefs going into the stars may drag them into conflict with other peoples. They believe firstly that the conflict is the only way to progress and power, and to keep such. They believe Secondly that they are Lords, some of the greatest of beings and that all others are inferior and dangerous to the Lords' existence. This makes them only fit to serve the Lords, or die.

The United Lordships have their history going back into the History of Akreon Prime. Rising from near endless conflict between Clans, each ruled by a singular Lord, was the Empire of Terkarshi. Terkarshi starting as a mere Lord of a singular Clan, he expanded out and conquered the Lands of other Clans, however instead of banishing or enslaving the clans he integrated them into his own. He declared that he was no singular Lord but Overlord, as all Xengari are Lords, of thought, of power, and of right. After conquering his nearby Island group, and several nearby, he invested his riches into development and new technological projects.

Nearing the end of his life the money spent into technological grants finally begin to provide the means to expand beyond the nearby island chains. The invention of a steam engine allowed for not only ships of greater power and speed but allowed every Xengari to live 'as a lord'. Shortly after a large commissioning of new ships Terkarshi died. His descendants would go on to conquer large sections of the World eventually, uniting it. After unification development and expansion and progress preoccupied the newly united Lordships. As time progressed they grew a almost racial dread of an alien power conquering them with superior technology and the ability to cross the void of space, as they had done with island chains across Akreon.

This dread replaced their fear of monsters from the Depths of the Ocean to monsters from the stars. When they gained access to different systems themselves they went first with warships and then with the appropriate survey equipment. They went out in preparation for conflict down the Hyperlanes forming their own Empire out among the Stars, and meeting new species...

...And found none, peacefully expanding their military waned. However their martial traditions remain strong, upon encountering alien species they may find new incentives for a strong military...

United Lordships of Akreon Xengar11

Name (singular): Xengar
Name (plural): Xengari
Adjective: Xengari
Traits: Strong, Enduring, Nonadaptive, Resilient
Ethos: Fanatic Militarist, Xenophobe
Phenotype: Molluscoid

Short Description: Large Hydra like beings, primarily use sound and sonar, do have limited eyesight, dangerous combatants. They have an average adult length of six meters, height of three meters, and width being on average somewhere between 1.5 to 2 meters

Description: The Xengari are long serpentine aquatic creatures boasting an average adult length of six meters, height of three meters, and width being on average somewhere between 1.5 to 2 meters. As well they have one major central head and two minor heads. Their main griping appendages are long flexible arms ending in hands containing three digits, one of such being an opposable thumb.

They are are unusually stronger and longer living compared to other sapient species, possibly due to their unusual size. Due to a combination of factors they have particular difficulty adapting to environments significantly deviating from their native environments. In addition to aforementioned physical traits they have a unusual psychological and physical ability where they will defend what they believe to belong to themselves or their group far to extreme and beyond in exertion and damage to themselves.

Speaking of their sense they have a very well developed sense of hearing and spacial awareness, lacking somewhat in eyesight and smell. The hearing and spacial awareness is likely due in some part to echolocation and their extensive reliance on the aforementioned ability. While their eyesight is poor, it is not insignificant as they can detect a limited range of color only detecting from 410-650 nm on average. As well as being able to detect binocular cues by focusing more than one head on a location, as they lack the ability for multiple eyes to do this otherwise.

Military: 4
Naval: 4  The Xengari Dominant culture ruled through the seas. Now they pull forward their doctrines and ideas and ideals into the stars. They do not all together neglect the realm of ground warfare but it is not a large portion of their martial traditions.
Ground: 2  While they do not particularly neglect ground warfare, it is not as developed as other fields of military potency.

Economy: 3
Industry: 4  There is a high focus on military and state production. Often however this is not direct control of the state but more contracting to various Xengari corporations and organizations.
Tertiary Goods: 2  Civilian grade materials are made though much less then that for the state. A way to get a better life style is to work for the government, indirectly or directly whether this be militarily or other means.

Technology: 4
Researched: 4  New research is one of the prides of the Xengari, that and scavenging among the corpses of alien civilizations holds a certain disgust for them. The Xengari pushes into the stars upon a wave of discovery, glad to have not discovered living alien life so soon.
Scavenged: 2  Although the Xengari have a certain disgust for aliens they will not limit themselves to the fruits of their own progress, they will take any advantage they can get.

Diplomacy: 1
Understanding: 5  Even if they are horribly inept at not offending other species they may still try. When they do this they are very likely to attempt to understand the alien's position rather than try to find deeper information themselves.
Espionage: 1  One of the main reasons Xengari do not attempt to weasel information is not due to a honor code or other such limitation. They simply believe that any alien is devious enough to put misinformation no matter how unlikely, their paranoia shows quite readily.

Culture: 3
Internal Stability: 5  One of the hallmarks of the unified Xengari is a feeling of intense species pride. The highest calling is to sacrifice and assist the Race. This does not mean there is no room for personal accomplishments, just that one should not overtly harm the Race. The Race provides and protects.
Marketability: 1  Stories and other cultural artifacts of the Xengari are often very Xenophobic promoting morals such as the foreign is unclean and unwelcome. They will often have many insulting and degrading themes about non-Xengari peoples and creatures. Unlikely to be particularly popular in all but the most Xenophilic cultures.

Quirk: Paranoia, as a growing xenophobia and other ideas of threats from the stars the Xengari are very likely to be paranoid to other species and empires. Acting under a philosophy of everything wanting to try to kill them, diplomacy may be especially difficult with this race.

Quirk: Large, as the Xengari are unusually large for a sentient technic species this presents some engineering and design challenges, particularly when dealing with aliens or specific environments.

Quirk: Sonar, as the Xengari primarily use Sonar as their main method of directions they hold a special usefulness in types of sensors and other engineering fields being able to use such returns as a way for pilots to 'see' everything around them.

I think these gents will go far in the galaxy. Always liked the idea of a species of hydras roaming the stars. The amount of miscommunication and fear that would go on, ahh.

I think the best part would actually be the amount of gunboat diplomacy, but miscommunication is always fun. Especially when they will often refuse to show themselves at first.

Your "gunboats" would be at least as large as a corvette if not larger, due to everything having to scale up for your large species. You know the saying, "everything's bigger on Akreon (prime)." So yeah, expect "aggressive negotiations," wherein the galaxy makes a "highly persuasive argument" for the right to exist. Smile

I was thinking about having the amount of crew being reduced, the ships stay the same size, and increased automation in their ships. Will certainly be interesting either way.

I can see increased automation being a viable option. From a practical standpoint, all you'd need for crew would be a navigator, a couple technicians, a mechanic, perhaps a logistician, some navigators, math people, and a captain, and even some of these are optional depending on the level of automation. Would greatly decrease crew costs, material costs, etc. God forbid you decide to send out Artificial Intelligences to do the "wetwork" for you.

This is in contrast to Yuxu ships, which are crammed to the gills with personnel, ladders, and fireman poles to quickly travel between decks to keep life support from failing when the ship inevitably smashes its hull against another ship's.

The Xengari are likely going very long range ship combat, proper military tactics. They are likely going to see the Yuxun as Xenos using pirate tactics making themselves little better than pirates. Fun times.

Yuxu use proper tactics. Enemy can't shoot you when you're snuggling against their friend and you've sent their formation into disarray. If they do, they're helping you kill themselves faster so it's a win-win.

Ah yes, "proper tactics." Like luring your opponent into a kill box by sending in sacrifical troops as a distraction attempt, only to detonate the explosive gases that had been placed in that chamber in the unlikely event that invaders attempt to take your ship by storm.

Very unlikely to happen, wouldn't you agree? :3

Close, but not dirty enough. It's even better if you send a civilian ship packed with nukes and send it hurdling toward the enemy fleet screaming for help, and then warp in once it detonates.
