The Empire of Macheidiema Empty The Empire of Macheidiema

Post by Ell-Ärks Fri Oct 14, 2016 6:30 pm

Empire Name: The Empire of Macheidiema
Empire Adjective: Macheidiema
Government: Absolute Monarchy
Current Ruler: Eternal Emperor, Osiris Yii Ethrawen
Ethos: Militarist, collectivist, xenophile
Traits: enduring, intelligent, slow breeders
FTL: Warp
Weapons: Kinetic
Sun: Mach
Homeworld: The solar system of Mach
Civilization type: Fledging empire

Species Name: Children of Mach
Species Adjective: Macheidiemian
        (     http://orig00.deviantart.net/5c75/f/2016/281/e/2/ytilth_im__by_larkan98-dakbic7.png                           )

        (     http://pre14.deviantart.net/f1e6/th/pre/i/2016/288/b/2/royal_battle_captain_by_larkan98-dal2zur.png      )
Species description: The Macheidiemians are ice-white, hairless, very tall and slender, bipedal, non organic beings (non cellular), with organic nerve, heart and respiratory systems (cellular).Their genetics and life force comes from a holow iron orb roughly 10 cm in diameter. It is located in the middle of the upper body, protected by muscles and a simple rib cage. Upon shattering the core they will die. The average composition of a macheidiemian is 50% carbon, 20% iron, 10% calcium and 10% silica. The remaining 10% is uranium 238 or any other powerful radioactive material.  He and she is between 3.5 - 5.6 terran meters tall when adult age is reached. Their bodies are capable of rapid self healing and can in the right circumstances regrow their heads if given 1-2 months of peace. This can only be done if they have spare raw materials stored inside their bodies. If there is not enough materials they will self combust and die, leaving the iron core behind. The average lifespan lies between 75 and 100 years for the common folk. The macheidiemian can expect to have two children. Also the minimum age of reproduction is 35 years.  The emperor and his empress on the other hand has a life expectancy of 180 years (terran) due to their cores being completely solid and their tribe being carefully bred and created to perfection.

Short empire description: The 47th era, as this time period is known as, is ruled by the eternal emperor, Osiris Yii Ethrawen and his empress Sa'sha Merah Ethrawen. The people of Macheidiema is not allowed to participate in any kind of politics, through any kind of media. However, they are allowed to express their displeasure via letters, public polls etc. Protests are shut down immediately, preferably without violence.
The royal military is constantly looking for people with the right fighting spirit. Four of the local news television channels always shows military propaganda clips when they are not streaming normal media.
Macheidiema is the main hub of the empire and is an industrial planet that supplies the empire with building materials and tools to conquer. The empire consits in 2 planets, 3 orbitals and 2 outpost satellites all located within the main system. The orbitals handle the building of ships and production of some foods. Drones are a necessity, because they fill out roles that no macheidiemian would ever find worthy of having. Cleaning and other household activities.

Short history: The book of origin and prophecy tells about the "entity", wandering in the wake of giants. Upon finding the rusting husk of an ancient, cold, jupiter sized sphere never completed, it knew where it would start. The planet was finished in one circuit (year). It filled the planet with 1.1 million entities. 11 tribes, 100,000 in each. Told them to reproduce and take care of this garden that was later named Macheidiema. The tribes split apart started their own. Alliances were forged. Wars were fought. Technologies were lost and found. For a million years this continued. 10000 years ago, the eternal pact was created which meant handing over the control to the newly created tribe called Ethrawen and uniting every single tribe under one flag. The current Ethrawen is the 15th iteration.

Military: 2 (The empire has plans to conquer but because of how weak they are in the current situation and the lack of possible allies has put the plans to a halt. Although they have yet to start any outerworldly wars they have in fact been attacked and defended their territory to only a mild success because of their low nubers.)
Naval: 4 (Although their ships are extremely powerful, fast and strong, the building costs are astronomical because of heavy use of californium in the ship spawners. The number of ships is therefore quite low. A mass invasion will bring the empire to its knees)
Land: 2 ( The macheidiemian soldier is strong, has an incredible ammount of stamina, wears plate armour and wields a long scoped sniper rifle and a traditional sword. The armour has a lot of gaps for the flexibility and mobilitys sake. The soldiers calls the armour a "shot trap" beacuse of how and where the plates are located (see my drawing above). They are very cheap however, the main weapon has no electronics (4.5 cm, 65 caliber long sniper rifle) the sword is a traditional "woven steel" sword for those epic one on one encounters. The soldiers handle harsh terrain very well because of their height and long and slender legs. They avoid the flatlands and tundra because of the limited cover that it offers. They are big and easy targets if they are caught off guard.)

Economy: 4
Industry: 3 (Using the iron and other materials of lifeless/worthless planets has brought material costs down to almost nothing)
Trade: 3 (The empire has a lot of rich neighbours that gladly buys what the empire has to offer at any price. Cutlery and steel are the best sellers.)

Technology: 5
Research: 6 (Most of their economy goes toward the research in military and terraforming applications. They do not plan to sell or share any research because of the fear of getting to fight their own technology.)

Diplomacy: 2
Understanding: 4 (The empire would love to conquer new lands for the sake of knowledge and understanding)
Espionage: 2 (The empire uses espionage in order to find possible allies and fearsome enemies.)

Culture: 2
Internal stability: 5 (The people has nothing to complain about. The people are loyal. Everyone knows that the emperor does what the emperor has to do. And that certain sacrifices has to be made in order to succeed.)
Marketability: 1 (They want ever other empire to be part of their "great" military kingdom and that only through them victory is achieved.)

Oh, I like the fact that you included the pictures that you painted.

Also, you should see to the points, you have one positive trait too many and while it is not obligatory you might add an additional ethos, use this for help:

There are some issues that need to be addressed before you can begin roleplaying. I will enumerate them here so that you may decide to change them or should you decide that you do not wish to change yur race so that you can create a new race to roleplay as.

1.
Ell-Ärks wrote:Civilization type: Empire/Kingdom

This is not what this means I will explain further at further points where it is relevant but for now is a relevant portion of the post for this roleplay.

The average lifespan lies between 300 and 10,000 years for the common to aberrant folk. The emperor and his empress on the other hand has a life expectancy of 200,000+ years (terran) due to their cores being completely solid. This does not mean that they are impossible to kill however, it just means that they are a lot harder to kill than standard Macheidiemian life. Their bodies are capable of rapid self healing and can in the right circumstances regrow their heads if it came to it. This can only be done if they have spare raw materials stored inside their bodies.

While I will not talk extensively on this, I will say this. Many have balanced their races around these traits and life spans average as "normal" at 72 years, give or take. As well the species have been balanced so that reductions are made to around 50 average or increases to 100 or 150. In addition those species normally have taken some harsher penalties to achieve greater lifespans or more benefits for receiving lower ones. So you might see when the you have species that is not only ridiculously longer lived than other other species, but stronger and smarter as well for only having a slower population growth, well some might call such Mary Sue.

Ell-Ärks wrote:Macheidiema is the main hub of the empire and is a great industrial planet that produces everything the empire needs. The empire consits in 30 planets and 156 orbitals and satellites.

Firstly main hub of the empire, fine. Great industrial planet, fine. Produces everything the empires needs, some askance is put here as I am given to believe that this is a powerful empire and that production capacity might again seem very over the top. Furthermore 30 planets, if you take the three largest empires currently in the roleplay, Xengari, Swarm, and Septhi, you get a number of around 30-40 worlds combined between them including colonies. So to say thirty planets and no more leads to the assumption of them as fully fledged worlds, which a large number of colonies also being unfeasible. In addition you mention 156 orbital and satellites and while not by any meanings expectant to be as important as a planet they no doubt do add considerably to the thirty worlds.

Economy: 4
Industry: 4 (Using the iron and other materials of lifeless/worthless planets has brought material costs down to almost nothing)
Trade: 1 (Very few civilizations capable of the exchange of goods within the reach of the empire, has made trade a very undesirable way of making a living)

Technology: 5
Researched: 5 (A lot they have researched. More there is.)

Diplomacy: 2
Understanding: 4 (The empire understands that most other civilizations think differently and that its species are not even close to having the same intelligence as they have.)

Culture: 3 (The main religion of the macheidieman empire is a monoteistic religion. Spiritual, peaceful and including. Almost everyone practices its rites.)
Internal stability: 5 (One can never denie the immense trust the people of the empire feel for their emperor)

First the points for the head categories.
The Clans wrote:Empires get 15 points to distribute between Military, Economy, Technology, Diplomacy, and Culture
Mil 3 Eco 4 Tec 5 Dip 3 Cul 3 3+4=7+5=12+3=15+3=18 points used out of 15 available. Second in the subcategories you have neglected some subcategories or ignored them entirely.
The Clans wrote:Right, underneath each of an Empire's Traits are two Aspects. You get an additional 6 points to distribute between these sections of the parent Trait. All this does is show how much your Empire might prioritize one Aspect over another or to show it prioritizes both equally with no real ill effect.
This in addition to the description of the Empire as materialist while saying here it is spiritual, peaceful and including, one of which the materialist label contradicts the other two unrelated to any ethos choices shown.

I have not done this as attempting to bash you or any other such scheme but instead help you to assimilate the empire to the balance and expectations of the current roleplay. Again if you wish to roleplay in this roleplay then you could also create a new Empire if you do not want to change this empire for the sake of the roleplay.

A word of advice regarding the empire, you could do as I did with the Khendros and simply have the setting be before they gathered their large, galaxy-spanning empire.

This seems good, although if we are extremely nitpicky you should probably remove the "long lived" trait (which does nothing, seeing how they are already "enduring") and give them back the "slow breeders" trait, otherwise they seem good to go.

To be honest I did not expect these changes to be done so quickly or so well. Very Happy

It will be interesting to see how the non-cellular life part pans out, especially since other species might consider them closer to robots than "real" organisms. Its going to be fun how it all turns out. I look forward to the roleplay that develops. Smile

Hmm, how about every species that is not silicon based and has bad relations with them? Razz

Hey! Don't put the cart before the horse, if they already dislike them then it is not so much them being siliconists as whatever other reason they have for disliking them. Not to mention that as they have yet to encounter a species there is none to dislike them and I don't think that everyone would engage in siliconism even if they did (for instance if the Khendros became hostile to them they would probably conclude that the problem lies in the corrupt society that they live in).

In all seriousness you are likely correct. Only really the Xengari are likely to do so as a whole, while others will likely only have minority populations that actually dislike them purely because of their form of life being different than themselves. However many more may feel uncomfortable around such that they do not properly understand, some people today would define life as the following, a biological definition to be sure.

Yay! Definitions!:

And from this definition one would see that they qualify but perhaps not entirely what is called a "Child of Mach" would be all called life.

I don't know, actually. Considering how all alien life is likely to be strange and well... alien I would expect a lot of people to go with an "aliens be alien" and not make distinctions with the different kinds of differences the aliens have with them, the Children of Mach do after all make clear signs of being intelligent and capable of communication. If we return to my example of the Khendros the species they are the most likely to be speciest towards are the swarmlings as they lack the means to communicate with them.

So what I mean to say is that specism is less governed by what definitions the Other can be put under but more with how well you can relate to them. And that siliconism is a funny word.

Yeah, I agree that people won't be condemning the Mach based upon their basic biology unless they were already condemning them for other reasons like simply being xenos scum (cough cough Xengari), since people won't know they lack conventional biology until further examination. It would probably only be as alien as the hyrda-esque Xengari viewing the humanoid Yuxu and humans, or the Yuxu-human forces viewing the insectoid Swarm. It might be fully baffling once the scientists delve deeper, but first impressions would only be "this guy looks weird".

The only bearing that I can see the alien biology having would be justifying preexisting xenophobia. "These guys not only look like monsters, they aren't even proper living lifeforms! They're just squishy machines, and like any machines they are unfit for possessing rights or respect."

The Xengari with no doubt contest "xenos scum" as scum and xenos are very disparate to the Xengari. Scum is more trustworthy.

You are more than likely correct. However for races like the Xengari, machines at least known their place is to serve, and that likely places them somewhat higher on the ranking scale. Making the lone bits of cellular biology that the Children of Mach possess the problem, more like Xenos than the machines that serve so loyally. Of course thinking this philosophically between the metaphorical, or real, slave driving of subject species.
