Development and Colonization

What do your nation focus on doing? I'm pretty lax on all these things, but I thought I'd make some soft-rules.
1. Avoid any more than doubling your number of planets on a single real day, unless there are a lot of people online, and we agree on such. This of course depends on the size of your already existing planets. A 1-world planet might colonize two on a day for example if that is their focus.
2. Be sensible when it comes to developing something. Don't rush to unnatural degrees. We don't really have any concept of time, but the problem arises when one player constantly has a lot more development than others.
3. Don't develop quickly in many areas at once. You can't colonize three planets, build up a great fleet, achieve a great technological breakthrough and gain a lot of diplomatic influence all at once, unless you are true power.

(I think the only thing the Kha'ni might do is expand their cultural influence. As their "Search" continues they are quite single minded about that. And so wish to expand the amount of Searchers.)
