The Nakturians bow in return. Meanwhile they are doing their best to try and understand the meaning of the script, using their own minds and the best computers that they have to try and decipher it. They find no hope however as their minds are simply unable to comprehend the idea of sounds, let alone ones with meaning. They try their best nevertheless [is your language phonetic or pictographic?]

This part is less comprehensible as it shows numbers rather than pictures but the Nakturians do understand that it is a case of statistics. they give one of their own showing elements and their different proprieties.

(i dont understand what you mean by Phonetic or Pictographic) A Septhi scientist moves up with a tablet, slowly trying to use simple lines to represent mathematics, and start to try and show off mathematical ideas and concepts to the Nakturians, perhaps Mathematics is the universal language?

[I mean is the characters of your language based on sound (phoentic) so that an "I" can be expected to sound like an "I" regardless of circumstances and words are in writing composed of many different characters to make up the entire pnounciation of the word? Otherwise are the different characters meant to symbolise the very object that they refer to? Meaning that an "I" would not represent a sound but for instance "line". A classical example of the latter system is the hieroglyphs.]

Tarjan , now kneeling completely, looks curiously at the different elements being shown, hoping to find something that could potentially be useful for his empire.

One of the Nakturians read the tablet, realising after a while that it represents numbers and tries to decipher them. The others have made some progress with their language, guessing what the different words may mean, it is however not very substantial and they are far from able to construe any sentences of their own.

It is simply a list, similar to the periodic table, that only shows the order and atomical characteristics of the different elements, nothing about any uses they have.

The Septhi maintain showing Mathematical Issues, to see if the Nakturians can answer them, and in so doing perhaps slowly work forward a true way to communicate. The Prince observes it all closely, and the Nakturians, and their bodily form with great interest.

Tarjan orders the type-1 AI in the holoprojectors to display all of their elements in the same way. This is mostly for Tarjans sake as he failed hard at chemistry in school. (Grades are easily faked in the empire.)

After a while the Nakturians returned the tablet with their translation of the Septhi numbers on it. They had also made some small progress with writing.

Those on the Macheidiemian ship tried a similar process where they handed over their own wrtiting to the aliens for translation.

[To both of you we could skip the process to when they have managed to understand each other's language]

After deciphering the Nakturian language communication appears to be formally established. The Septhian Prince leads the communications with them.

"I am Prince Grasekh of the Eternal Dynasty of Septhi, leader of this scientific expeditionary force. It is a great blessing and honor to meet you, we wish to know of your unique species and people and in return you can ask whatever knowledge you wish of the Dynasty and its workings."

After going through the trouble sending after an emergency class long range warp ship carrying a royal interpreter and a Nakturian shaped communicator drone, and having it dock to the other side of the californium seeker, the language could finally be translated.


The interpreter named Maja (female) initiates by making the drone say the macheidiemian greeting phrase: "Greetings fellow children of space. We are from the eternal planet of Macheidiema. Located in the long arms of Mach. We come in great peace. We look forward to your cooperation in trade, diplomacy and greatness in battle."

[Caspoi]

Through the process of translation the Nakturian answer came: "We are Nakturians, the people of Naktura, warriors of the Nakturan Stratocracy. Our realm stretches through the stars. Ask and we shall answer."

"As do we" Rinhoch answered. "We are Nakturians of Naktrura. Cooperation between our peoples would be preferable.

[Mthis]

The Prince nods as he talks to the Nakturians "We wish to know of your culture and society, your beliefs. As such we can get a good understanding of your kind. Thus we can easier form a relationship of cooperation between our species and nations"

[Ell-Ärks]

"I, on the behalf of the Empire of Mach, am glad that you think so." Maja replies "I am sure that there is a lot that we have to offer that'll come to your liking."

[Caspoi]

"It is hard to answer the question without knowing what differs us from you but I will try, our society is a hiearchial one where the greatest warriors join the top of the Stratocracy, led by the Divine Warrior. We believe that there is a Divine Spark in all living beings that is what gives us our life and power. It also takes it's form in things like fires and the sun. What do you believe in?"

"Do you have anything particular in mind. It seems as if you were fond of certain metals so mayby we can trade them to you in exchange fro other resources."

[Mthis]

The Prince nods "I see...Our own society is alot more focused on the good of the individual while maintaining solidarity and stability of the entire populace..We have an elected government below my family, the Dynasty. The Peoples Government as it is refered to."

[Ell-Ärks]

"The only resource that has any value to us other than weapon grade plutonium is the californium that powers the ship spawners" Maja replies.

[Caspoi]

They looked rather insulted at the insinuations, "It is not as if we do not care about the individual nor that our society is particularly unstable. We allow people to advance within our ranks with strict but fair rules. Everyone has a chance and we try our best to help people."

"I am certain that we could help mine and produce such resources. In exchange we would like to buy some of your technology as well as copper resources."

[Mthis]

"That is good at least, that you work hard to help your people. Your system is a working meritocracy then?"

[Ell-Ärks]

"Are you absolutely sure you want to handle our electronic waste from 7500 years ago? We have materials and alloys that far outperform copper in every category." Maja replies. "But if it is copper you want. Help yourselves."

[Caspoi]

"I suppose that you could call it that. Skill at arms is the primary way of judging a person's place in society, the best way to see their worth."

"Copper is one of those resources that we have found that you can never get enough of and sadly our copper mines are not up to the task, if you have no use of it then we are sure to get it for a fair price."

[Mthis]

"A Warrior Meritocracy then? I see, a very martial culture you hail from then, back in our history on our homeworld many Tribes and Clans on the Plains had such martial tendencies."

[Ell-Ärks]

"Ahh, i see. If our grand supreme leaders can stand on common ground, i am sure you can get it at any price if our zitoettietob is in a good mood." (Zitoettietob = emperor, people spirit)

[Caspoi]

"At any rate you say that you and your dynasty rules your realm yet you also claim to have an government elected by the people, how does that work?"

"Let us hope that they can. If such an agreement is to come to fruition we better return so as to inform our government of this."

[Mthis]

"Yes my Mothers Dynasty rules spiritually over our people as a whole, but a democraticly peoples electorate oversees most Government focuses as they are of the material realm, thus we are there to provide Spiritual Unity, protection and guidance. Our bloodline is directly blessed by the Gods."

[Ell-Ärks]

"Let us do" Maja responds as she stands up "Time is essential. My masters are calling. I will be leaving this drone and its blueprints as a gift to your civilization. It can send its signals to the far reaches of the galaxy and contains limited information about our empire, should you want to research." She bows and says "To the end of times!" before she turns around, heading for her ship. The airlock closes behind her and the seeker crew.

[Caspoi]

"Interesting, is there anything else that you wish to ask of us?" They refrained from further comment on the status of the monarchy as they thought that it might be impolite.

The two Nakturan ships deteach and head towards their brethren.

"We merely wish to ask if it possible to find a way to arrange a further diplomatic conversation of understand of borders and boundaries, thus makking it easier to conduct full lenght diplomacy and potential trade."
