The End of the Cirnii-Xengari War Empty The End of the Cirnii-Xengari War

Post by Joe Joerson Sun Nov 20, 2016 6:33 pm

In the initial Outset of the war the Primary conflict emerged from the Cirnii raiding groups in which the Cirnii were mostly successful. As during this time the Xengari mostly focused on concentrating their fleeting strength in the two nearest Xengari inhabited systems, Tuplarvis and Vesmeron. In the later stages of this period the Xengari would start to meet the raiding parties at their destinations with mixed success.

The Second stage of the war involved a large Xengari counterattack pushing into Cirnii space as previously the boundaries of which were explored by Xengari Patrol ships acting as scouts. The Cirnii continued to raid but also made delaying maneuvers in the course of the war. The Xengari slowly advanced through Cirnii space. Due to the gratuitous number of fortifications built in Cirnii Space and the delaying maneuvers previous mentioned. The Cirnii fleet often defended their defensive outposts with long range missile bombardment of the assault fleet before fleeing when the Xengari grew close to being able to engage the smaller Cirnii fleet. This necessitated repairs on the Xengari fleet to ensure the survival of their ships, further delaying the Xengari advance. The Xengari moved slowly through Cirnii space because of this delay and their lack of knowledge of the Cirnii homesystem, Carrak.

The Cirnii at this point were searching for anything that could win them the war or at least stale mate it. Farstar, while useful, always had a price often ill afforded for an Empire at war. And with other aliens they have met been less than forthcoming for an alliance. That left searching among the ruins of dead civilizations, the Farstar themselves being scavengers do not like competition, especially from civilizations far younger than their own. Resulting from this was the Cirnii need to do so in relative secrecy, unfortunately without much experience in the matter.

Arriving at a system with an artifact of great power, a reasonably intact Heavy Cruiser from some long forgotten war. Of unusual configuration and design it was using primarily geometric shapes and angles in its form. Through a long series of events the Cirnii expedition managed to awaken the ancient cruiser much to their own lack of fortune. The cruiser, controlled now by an awaken mad Artificial Intelligence from a long lost genocidal war, was able to break into the computers of the Cirnii expeditionary fleet, though unable to control the vessels due to their low degrees of automation and strict control by living creatures, it was able to rip the location of the Cirnii homesystem from their databanks. Fueled by imperatives long forgotten it embarked towards its destination with a short stop before it left. The Cirnii fleet was able to send off a warning to Carrak before their casual destruction by the warship.

The Cirnii mobile forces had to abandon their delaying actions against the Xengari in favor of delaying the mad AI from reaching Carrak. The Cirnii contacted Farstar investments informing and requesting their aid. The Cirnii fleet managed to delay the Heavy Cruiser for a short while before it simply ignored them proceeding to bombard the planet's surface and eliminate populations both military and civilian. When a fleet from Farstar arrived a majority of the population was still intact and some measure of self-preservation was still present in the ancient cruiser causing it to burst towards the Gas Giant of the system, Ano, and its many moons, eventually blasting through an ice covered moon to access the ocean below, saving it from destruction by the Farstar fleet. However not before its warp drive was disabled and in system engines damaged by the approaching Farstar ships.

The Xengari advance greatly increased in speed by the withdrawal of the Cirnii mobile forces, and the outpost commanders' surrendering rather than complete destruction of what they own by the Xengari fleet, soon the Xengari arrived in the Cirnii homesystem of Carrak. With the Cirnii fleet in tatters, Farstar interested only in the containment of the AI and the power of the Xengari fleet, a cease fire was soon declared with the intent of negotiating a Peace treaty. One was created and agreed upon, some major points below.

Peace Treaty Main Points:

Following the peace treaty the Xengari fleet is splitting up into task forces to enforce terms, transport occupation forces and bringing any Cirnii who wishes to return to the Cirnii Homesystem. In addition Xengari ship production slows as the economy ships to rebuilding.

Now I can't help but think about the Xengari as the Empire of Japan and the old Cirnii as the Qing Empire, with the Khendros serving the role of the Soviet Union I suppose, speaking of that you were very vague on what the Khendros were doing during this time.

It can be elaborated on if necessary. The Khendros presumably made an alliance with the Septhi and likely did other things that you might want to make a post about? Very Happy

The End of the Cirnii-Xengari War Empty Re: The End of the Cirnii-Xengari War

Well they tried to but honestly this alliance would very much be a case of the Cirnii trading one overlord for another (the terms would be along the lines of Khendros protection to the Cirnii but in exchange they would have to be their satellite and in no positition to stop the Khendros from making more demands and they knew it. In the hypothetical scenario where they agreed to it and beat back the Xengari the Khendros would probably have forced them to adopt the Ideology as state policy, made every inhabitant of the Cirnii a citizen of the Khendros, which would have meant that they among other things would have been obligated to serve in the military and eventually made away with the government entirely, all of this in the process of possibly fifty years if they considered it worth to push it. From that point onwards the Khendros would have stayed back and observed things while being ready to move in at a moment's notice. When the Cirnii government started to collapse due to the Machina Ex Machina they would have moved their fleet in to "restore order" in the outlying provinces while repeating their offer to any officials that they could find, said officials being suddenly rather willing to accept it because a) they would have realised that it this point the war was lost and that it was probably better to swear alligeance towards the moderately friendly people rather than the outright hostile enemies and b) because nothing makes quite the same argument as an armada of ships around your planet, gunboat diplomacy is weird like that. They would avoid doing so towards any worlds that the Xengari have taken over however as they while they would accept the consequences of war they would prefer to delay it and it works better for the propaganda if they are percieved as the attacké rather than the attacker. Despite this they would not hide their hostility towards the Xengari or their new puppet, whom they consider an illegitimate government that holds no claim on it's own land, let alone the land of their own puppet and they would announce that they would accept any and all refugees from the "tyranny of the Xengari".

Mostly makes sense. I would point out that there is only one inhabited planet in the Cirnii sphere so an "armada of ships around your station" is more like it. Razz

As well both sides are likely to be rather ineffective in subverting the "loyalty" of each others populations. As well the Khendros will just out of physical drive limitations only be able to seize a fraction considering the relative slowness of a Wormhole drive compared to a hyperdrive in this scenario. How much do you think? 20-30%? More? Less?

20 to 30 % sounds good, while they were fairly quick about themsleves (they had been preparing for this scenario for some time) they only really involved themselves in the latest stage of the war and soon thereafter the Cirnii capitulated to the Xengari. So let us say that they took about 25 % of the Cirnii territories, mostly made up of outlying areas while most of the "core space" was taken by the Xengari.

Yes sounds about right.

In any case sometime soonish we should probably get a move on with the whole Roleplay thing unless there is something else you wanted to bring up...?

Not really, I do agree that the Cirnii won't be convinced by either party though, they have shown themselves perceptive about those things before and would certainly realise both the agressive behavior of the Xengari and the hypocrocy of the Khendros' denouncements of the former.

Sorry for the late reply.

You me and Mthis should talk in the discussion thread about organizing the results of Khendros-Xengari meeting.
