Posting it here for now, so the mods can move it wherever it should be.

Some thousand years ago, the galaxy was filled with sprawling empires. Nevertheless, they all fell in a period of forty years. Several disasters brought by technological evolution ravaged the world, and wiped out most lifeforms. As nature still has not recovered, most planets are filled with ruins. While the catastrophes were mysteriously dealt with, as the stories go, if you dig too deep, you might find things that was never to be reawakened.

Description of galaxy. Few intelligent lifeforms remains, as most were wiped out during the "apocalypse". Most ancient technology is lost, but can still be discovered underground. Minerals are depleted, fallout has claimed all agricultural land, and most rare resources are already claimed. In addition, most planets have lost the conditions for life. To find resources, you will have to delve into the tombs of the past.

Most empires fall into one of these categories:
1. Scavengers left of past empires.
2. Very fallen empires. Less stagnation, more destruction.
3. New "players" to the stage, which has somehow stayed undiscovered/untouched in the past.
4. A combination of these.
What I mean by this, is, no large factions at game start. The galaxy has only recently become possibly to be inhabited.

Additional rules:
1. Max 3 populated planets at game start.
2. No overwhelming power at game start.
3. Keep growth to a realistic level, according to how this galaxy works. For example, you don't just find a lot of good, wild worlds to colonize.
4. Unless most players are online, avoid too much progress.
5. A maximum of 15 rating points at start, with a maximum of 5 in one single category. Room to grow, but also to be specialized.
6. Admin's Edit: To Join post appropriate topics in required sections, empire in the empire list, etc.

My idea for this campaign is a game where you don't have to spend every hour of your day to follow. Come on now and then, and if everyone do, then we can go over to a faster pace.

Domain of the Kreazi
Adjective: Domain
Government: Theocratic Oligarchy
Current Inquisitor/Ruler: Qtan
Ethos: Collectivist, Pacifist, Spiritualist
FTL: Hyperdrive
Weapons: Lasers
Homeworld: Krethia (Jungle)
System: Kreaz-Ruuq
Language: High Taar for Kreazi, Low Taar for Thyaras
Description:
All Kreazi are regarded as Divine Beings by the Thyaras, and are thus allowed to vote in the Divine Council, in addition to legally owning other citizens. They elect a leader that rules for 40 years. In a way, for the Kreazi, this is like a direct democracy, although there are only around 200 only Kreazi left, making this quite easy. The Council controls every part of lesser citizen’s lives, making them slaves and worshippers.

Kreazi
RP Galaxy: Aftermath Kreazi11
Name: Kreaz
Adjective: Kreazi
Ethos. Pacifist, Xenophobe, Individualist
Traits: Venerable, Slow Breeders, Weak
Description:
The Kreazi were once a mighty, large, strong, immortal species, but somehow this was all stripped away from barely surviving in a foreign environment. They still live longer than most, but they are weak now, and smaller. After watching a disaster ruin most of the galaxy, they will do anything to hinder other races’ technological progress.

Thyaras
RP Galaxy: Aftermath Thyara11
Name: Thyara
Adjective: Thyaran
Ethos: Fanatic Collectivist, Spiritualist
Traits: Rapid Breeders, Conformists, Slow Learners
Description:
The Thyaras are a slave races of the Kreazi, something which they see as given. The Kreazi uplifted them from an ever lasting stone age, and the Thyaras thus worship them as divine beings. They breed fast, but are slow to change.

History:
Thousands of years ago, the Kreazi fled from a disaster that destroyed the empires of the past. A small group of fifteen landed in the Jungle Planet of Krethia. Used to cold glaciers, this came hard to them. Due to their inability to work much here themselves, they started teaching a local somewhat intelligent species, the Thyaras. The primitive people were already practicing religion, so replacing these with themselves was easy. They were after all, one of the most technological advanced empires in the galaxy, at one point.

Later, they ruled all of the planet, and had strict religious rules. The Kreazi stories taught themselves that others were the cause of the catastrophes. This led to their xenophobic tendencies. The Thyaras now knew they were not much else than pawns in a society where only hard work could lead them upwards. The most successful were even allowed to see and contact the Kreazi, as that was a privilege of itself. Such a Thyara was known as a “Prophet.”

What could then lead to finally teaching the Thyaras of spaceflight? They had contact with aliens, and thus wanted to rise again to the space theater, this time to prevent what had happened before. They believe their worshipers were ready to fight for them.

Power Scale:
Military: 1 (The Kreazi are pretty anti-war, and did not expect aliens to rise again so quickly. No reason for armies for other matters.)
Economy: 3 (The Jungles make it difficult for infrastructure to develop, as Kreazi architecture is more suited for large plains. Mining operations depleted much of the resources in the past, before the Apocalypse.
Technology: 5 (The Kreazi still have much of the knowledge of the past, but it is lacking in implementation. This puts the Domain at the level of a newcomer which is still far-ahead in technology in comparison to others.)
Diplomatic: 3 (No communications with other races at story start, and due to Kreazi arrogance, they would rather send a Thyara to be a diplomat. This might hinder diplomacy somewhat.)
Cultural: 3 (The spiritual culture of the Thyaras is pretty well developed, but does not necessarily have the means of further influence. Kreazi culture has heavily lend from other, forgotten traditions of the old galaxy.)

Kaheshi Design Document

Game Data:

Ocean Homeworld

Species:RP Galaxy: Aftermath Arthro11

Traits:Intelligent, Sedentary, Enduring
Ethos:Pacifist,Fanatic Materialist
Government:Enlightened Monarchy
Starting-Weapons:Ballistics
FTL:Warp-drive

Basic Data

Species name: Kaheshi, Singular Kahesh.
Homeworld: Kahesh
Star/system: Sa
Empire: Crownship of Sa
King: Kra’Vres The High-Crowned
Languages: Kaheshi (minor dialects are prevalent dependant on which part of Kahesh they are form)
Religion: Practically defunct. Small minorities who worship Ancient Sea gods, but commonly relates to less than 3% of the population.

Kahesh Rotational period: 78 Hours
Kahesh orbital period: 600-612 Local days
Kahesh Hydrographic coverage: 97%

Kahesh is a planet almost entirely covered in a single ocean, only smaller volcanic landmasses are visible on the surface of the planet, however the average depth of the ocean is not immense compared to the oceans of other worlds, Sunlight is generally visibly from the bottom across most of the planet. The Water is Generally warmer than that of Terran Oceans, and tend to house an immense biodiversity.

Biology

The Kaheshi are bipedal Crustaceans with a exoskeleton and the capability to absorb oxygen through it regardless of being above or below water like most Crustaceans.

It is almost virtually impossible for a non Kaheshi to distinguish the sexes from one another. Like other Crustaceans they lay eggs, however due to their size and pre-sapient nature as an Apex Predator they commonly only lay one egg, however two eggs is not uncommon. Young Kaheshi look different compared to adult Kaheshi due to being in a pseudo-larval stage where their exoskeleton has yet to fully form, and along it several of their more advanced organs. Generally incubation times of eggs are rather quick, hatching and bringing a Kaheshi into its larval stage between 50-70 days. A Kaheshi is generally considered adult upon the time their Exoskeleton is fully formed and all their organs have matured, dependant on diet this can take all from 15-20 years.

Kaheshi are commonly 7-8 feet tall and are bipedal with two arms and two legs, however also having a long tail most easily explained as a mix between a Lobster's tail and a serpent's tail. They possess four highly efficient finger like appendages on the hands on both of their arms.

(Intelligent)The modern Kaheshi is blessed with a very efficient thought processing center much akin to a brain for other races. This has led to them having a somewhat towering individual intellect.

(Sedentary)The Kaheshi however living in an extremely alive ocean world with plenty of nutritious and available food has led to them not be a race that migrates a lot, preferring to stay in surroundings they know.

(Enduring) Kaheshi tend to live slightly longer lifespans than most other species, generally reaching around 130-150 on average in terran years.

The Pre-Sapient Kaheshi looked practically the same as modern Kaheshi, however archeology depicts they might have been slightly larger or smaller depending on where on the planet they lived. They were an Apex predator found everywhere in the seas of their world, even in the deepest parts of the oceans. Archeology depicts earliest forms of their design as far back as 6 million years, leading it to commonly be believed they were a very effective and efficient evolutionary design for their worlds conditions.

Geography, Early History

Kahesh as seen from space is almost entirely submerged in water of varying colors, which relates to the vast kelp and underwater plant forests that sprawl just below the surface of the water. Volcanic Islands are also visible from orbit, continuously spewing out magma and other minerals from deep below the world's crest.

Early Kaheshi community and civilization is estimated to have begun approximately 30.000 years ago as “clans” or “tribes” emerged along the Kelp-forests and hunted and gathered to store prey for later use. No One's quite sure but the first indication of permanent settlement appears as old as 25.000 years ago where early forms of writing and communication is established to have been invented.

The earliest actual historical documents date to the High-Priesthood of Ja’Zravr around 18.000 years ago where extremely advanced mathematics is presented, broad examples like estimation of the size of the planet is presented in these documents, and later studies would reveal them to be almost pinpoint accurate.

Archaeology and documentation makes us believe that around 10.000 years ago, there was already global contact and trade routes between most if not all national groupings on Kahesh, leading to spreading of ideas and technologies to be fast globally, however mathematics and philosophy was extremely advanced, on a technological level the Kaheshi were still using cold-forging, and primarily using simple but crude metal weaponry and tools, if extremely efficient at it however.

It was not until 580 years ago that the Kingdom of Hra’Vrofak discovered a source of energy through the use of a Volcanic island with contraptions to store steam and gasses. This sudden discovery led to a rapid industrialization as methods of forging and metallurgy spread. However wars also began to seize these few and valuable Volcanic islands as a source of this now valued energy source. Technological progress boomed at an exceptional rate never seen before.

Recent History

Around 210 years ago the Kaheshi as a species began uniting closer in form as technology advanced at a rapid rate leading them into a digital age which led to an effective globalisation. Rationalism became the prime thought amongst the Kaheshi and thanks to the globalisation, conflicts began to die down, leading them into an era of peace and prosperity guided by the monarchies that spanned the globe.

Modern Culture and situation

The Kaheshi are a very rational culture and race, who however softened by generations of peace do not see interest in armed conflict lest in self-defence, technological prowess and the safety and well being of the citizens is the prime concern of the leadership of the Kaheshi. They are a relatively 'small' empire comparibly to other larger space fairing empires, but profit from close density of habitable worlds and are highly advanced. Current number of worlds with fully functioning populations is 3.

The Kaheshi can be noted with being exceptionally advanced for being a young interstellar nation which dosnt have a technocratic government. Generally doing leaps of progress in certain technological fields at a time. This is believed to be linked to their idea of progress and prosperity as well as their exceptionally heightened intelligence. Some say Kaheshi cities are technological Utopias.

Economic: 3

RP Galaxy: Aftermath Empty Re: RP Galaxy: Aftermath

Post by Joe Joerson Thu Apr 21, 2016 12:29 pm

I would ask if you fellows want a new sub forum? As well would you require any sub forum folders if you need a sub forum?

In addition I see my Galactic Power scale has some use, as well note the location of this topic in a new forum for this purpose of new roleplays. So the Kaheshi have a rating of 3 while the Domain has a 3.4 rating.

Some may be interested to hear but I personally like to think of a rating 3 civilizations as something like World War 1 Germany or Austria-Hungary powerful nations in their spheres but limited in world (or Galactic) scope. (Though I would consider WWI Germany closer to four than three.) Rating 4 civilizations as World War 1 America or Britain, important enough to take note of whenever they do something but not world shattering. Rating 5 is like the Cold War America or Soviet Union, Superpowers that the world watches. Rating 6 I think we haven't ever had something like this yet on Earth as it would be something that controls the world effectively.

So to put this Victoria 2 terms, Rating 1 are the small nations, like some of the German states before the Franco-Prussian War. Rating 2 are larger more important states like Belgium maybe Bavaria, Siam, Rating 3 are are the lesser of the Great Powers, Austria-Hungary, The Ottomans, Spain, Rating 4 are the greater of the Great Powers, Prussia, Russia, France, Rating 5 possibly Britain, or later period nations such as Cold War Superpowers. Rating 6 would be a nation that control half of the world and heavily influence the rest.

Hopefully some of you found my ranting interesting or informative. tongue

A sub forum would be really practical.

About the rating, (which I didn't include), I'm actually adding a rule of 15 points, maximum of 5 in one category, at the start of the game. I don't want to be too limiting, but due to the lore of the galaxy, it just wouldn't make sense for superpowers at start. The Crownship of Sa thus does not have to change.
