Diplomacy between the Great Realm of R'lyeh and the Awakened Dreaming Clans

The security team had entered with their weapons lowered, but upon seeing the weapons raised at them two of the security team immediately slam their ballistic shields onto the ground while the other three crouch behind them with their weapons leveled. The three in the back start to lower their weapons to see if the aliens will follow suit.

The creatures ignore them and countinue to stand still. Finally after a while their apparant leader started speaking, and while guttural and somewhat distorted the words were in the language of the clansmen:

"You stand in the presence of a Star-Gazer of R'lyeh, the chosen of the Great Old Ones. We come to treat with you."

One holding a shield addresses the being "You stand in the presence of a Yuxun security team that never thought it would be needed. You could have avoided all of this waiting around by trying to communicate with the station. You have the privilege of being the first to be assessed for violent intent and asked to consent to a search for explosives before meeting with one of our leaders. You may comply and prove your benign intent or leave peacefully."

This caused the tentacles of the being to twist violently, as if agitated:

"We did, how are we to blame for you missunderstanding our signals? As you are the one who have shown violent intent, boarding our vessel for no good reason we will decline your proposal of searching it. We came here in good faith but if you do not comply then you will have earned the ire of a realm more powerful than you."

"We only received one transmission, and that was a command to open our station. No reason was given, not even a name to identify by. Only radio silence afterward and no response was received by any of our transmissions. This boarding was conducted to identify your intent and to establish communications."

"Multiple attempts were made to make you understnad our intent to meet you, we need to meet in person to understand your language and open negotiations."

"Then it's a good thing we boarded, isn't it?" answers another member of the security team. "The ship captains were getting antsy. You may dock with our station." The rifle holding security team members turn their backs and head for the airlock while the shield bearers move backwards to keep them covered from the weapon holding fish people.

The shuttle detaches and once again signals for the station to open.

The gunboats return to the station and the station opens one of its airlocks to allow the shuttle to connect and enter. At the airlock stands a retinue of guards with weapons either crossed over their chests or at their hips flanking a single figure dressed in robes that stands in the center of the walkway into the station.

The shuttle opens and six of the fishmen walk out making an honour guard for the tentacled man, the "star-
gazer", who walks up to the men in robes and adresses him:

"Are you the governor of this station?"

"I am the administrator's assistant. I will escort you to meet with our queen."

"Very well then, we will follow you."

The fishmen are lead into the station. In contrast to the straightforward airlock the open areas and hallways they walk through are busy and bustling with individuals ranging in height from half a meter up to two with most of the smaller ones climbing on ladders that presumably connect the decks of the station. All of the small ones stop and stare while only the taller ones that have weapons do more than turn their head.

The assistant opens a door into a spacious interior occupied by several soldiers lining the walls, a mannequin wearing a sleek set of armor, and a large armor clad individual that rises from its seat as soon as the door opens and approaches the envoy with its arms outstretched at its side. It speaks from behind its helmet via a voice projector. "I am Archmistress Mysha, Unifier and Awakener of the Dreaming Clans of Yuxun. Welcome to my space and welcome to my station on behalf of our people and our leaders. If there is anything you require for your personal comfort do not hesitate to ask."

The star-gazer steps forward.

"I am a star-gazer of the Great Realm of R'lyeh, I speak for the realm and thus bring you it's greetings."

"Your guards have some very interesting weaponry," she motions toward the mannequin "This is a suit of our most finely crafted armor. If you would give me the pleasure, I want to see what your weaponry can do to it!" she asks becoming more and more eager as she speaks.

"If it will restore some semblance of goodwill between our peoples. However the dishcharge can reach quite far, stay back."

He gestures towards the mannequin and one of the fishmen raises it's spearlike weapon towrds it and unleashed one quick lightningbolt towards it, blinding everyone and creating a heavy smell of ozon in the room.

She laughs from under her helmet upon seeing the dummy melt from an overload of energy. It is quickly removed by several attendants. She removes her helmet to show her scarred face and muzzle. "Well there's no point in me wearing all of this, is there?" She motions to several seating arrangements, mainly chairs and sofas suited to their species to accommodate their tails, but also piles of pillows. "Please, sit. Let's talk. I know you didn't come all this way just to give weapon demonstrations."

He sits down, although his followers countinue standing, glaring across the room with their big eyes.

"No I did not. I come with an offer, we, the star-spawn, are followers of the Great Old Ones, they are our "gods" if you will. The rulers of this universe and all of the others. They grant us boons like much of our technology. We propose that swear subservience and then you too may be granted some small gift of their vast power. When the time comes, when the stars are right they will return to this galaxy and once again remind everyone who is the ruler of it, and those who remembered will be rewarded greatly."

Mysha sits and leans back on her couch as soon as 'subservience' is mentioned. She crosses her legs and taps her gloved fingers on a nearby cushion in thought. "Hm... How long have your gods been gone?"

"Six thousand years by now, although they do sometimes interact with us, which usually happens once every hundred years or so. However, the stars are very soon right and then they will return as the prophets have foretold. And remember that these prophets are great star-gazers who have even journeyed into other realms that they rule."

"As I understand it star-gazers are others like you, correct? Not like your guards? I don't mean to be rude, but your realm sounds very disorganized if your leaders own multiple disjointed territories that they have to travel between."

"Yes, the star-gazers are the rulers and diplomats of our realm, you may call them 'priests', and they are the highest ranking star-spawn. I am one of them. My guards are what we call 'deep ones', natives of one of our planets who serve within the realm in their own way. As for the prophets I do not mean as in that they travel between planets but into other dimensions, ruled by the Great Old Ones. "

"You travel between dimensions? Our physicists would talk you to death and kill for the opportunity to do so."

"Yes, but be warned, most attempts result in death and even among the survivors most go insane, and that is star-gazers, people who have spent hundreds of years being conditioned to this. The prophets are prophets because they have managed to evade both. But back to the proposal, do you accept?"

"Dreamers are subservient to no one, not even to me. You could make all of us immortal, cure every disease, and many other things, but we are not slaves. We take slaves. Most of this world's population are not the property of my clan, but mine. Taken in war and gifted as tribute. Even if I accepted no one else would."

"We do not know of your customs, explain them to me."

"Well, tell me what you consider to be 'subservience' and we can go from there."

"You would worship the Great Old Ones and help their servants in their endeavour."

"The only worshipping that is done here is when a Dreamer commands their Sleepers to lick the sand off of their armor. If worship to you in any way involves submitting ourselves to someone else's whims, this is simply not possible. If your gods want worshippers then they should come here in person and prove themselves to be worthy as I and every other Yuxu god has done."

"Oh, they will. But they will most likely be more gracious towards you if you worship them Before they come, otherwise they might take your lack of faith... wrongly. Is there any way to convince you to change your ways?"
